Voice Actor, Mixer / Post Production, Sound Engineer
A graduate of Brock University in St Catharines, Ontario Canada, Jim worked in Alberta
as Technical Manager of the Theatre at Grande Prairie Regional College, involving himself
closely with Community Theatre groups as well as the CITT (Canadian Institute for Theatre
Technology- he was President of the Ontario section for 4 years), College Players and
Drama Department. During his stint at GPRC, he ran live sound mixes for everybody from
Brian Mulroney (ex Prime Minister), to Dan Hill to Eric Nagler, numerous Jazz ensembles,
and conducted workshops on Technical Theatre of all sorts, and consulted on sound system
installation for various theatre groups. Jim enjoyed working with Christopher Plummer twice
and the great Sir Peter Ustinov as Stage Manager for their one-man shows. Jim has designed
lights for hundreds of shows, including Guys and Dolls, The Fantastiks,
The Shadow Box, Whose Life Is It Anyway?, The Hobbit (the musical-
I played Gandalf), and West Side Story, and also directed The Gin Game,
I'll Be Back Before Midnight, The Creature Creeps!, and Little Shop of Horrors.
After nine years, he moved to Nepean, Ontario to become Centrepointe Theatre's Chief of
Production Services. While there, he worked closely with a great group of volunteer
technicians, teaching them the ins and outs of theatre, and designed a critically
acclaimed production of Into The Woods before moving to Mississauga, ON. Since
1993 he has been the Theatre Technical Director at the University of Toronto at Mississauga
and teaches Stagecraft to 1st and 2nd year students. His website is
